Transforming Radiology in the Netherlands

16.2.26

We’re excited to announce a strategic partnership between roclub and Kalcio Healthcare — focused on helping Dutch hospitals work smarter and stay ahead of the growing pressure on radiology services.

In the Netherlands, the demand for MRI and other imaging continues to rise, while hospitals operate within tight production agreements and face a growing shortage of qualified technologists. This means that even when scanners are available, it is often difficult to further expand capacity in a sustainable way. Together, roclub and Kalcio Healthcare are committed to helping hospitals use their existing resources more intelligently, so that patients can receive timely, high-quality diagnostic imaging, regardless of where they live.

At the heart of this collaboration is teleoperation. Teleoperation enables qualified technologists to access the scanner user interface remotely and safely control examinations – starting, adapting, or stopping scans from another location while on-site staff focus on patient care. This approach allows hospitals to increase effective scanner utilization, extend opening hours, offer specialized examinations at more locations, and stabilize operations across sites – all while “doing more with less” in times of financial pressure and staff shortages.

In this partnership, roclub provides the secure, cloud-based teleoperation platform and the roclub connector, which can connect to scanners from any vendor and supports real-time video, audio, and chat between remote operators, local staff, and patients. The platform is ISO 27001 certified and designed for GDPR and HIPAA compliance, with strong encryption, multi-factor authentication, and clear role-based access to safeguard data and patient privacy. Kalcio Healthcare acts as a trusted advisor for Dutch hospitals that want to implement teleoperation with roclub and the technologist marketplace.

Through the roclub marketplace, roclub and Kalcio help hospitals access and coordinate qualified remote technologists, enabling teleoperation to be established and scaled as a new standard for remote imaging operations across the Netherlands.

By combining Kalcio’s deep local expertise with roclub’s teleoperation and marketplace capabilities, this partnership helps healthcare providers build resilient radiology services — keeping scanners running within existing agreements, reducing waiting times, and improving access to expert imaging sustainably and safely for patients across the Netherlands.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Dutch partner JH Consultancy Healthcare for their support and help in bringing us together.
